Typically, patients are referred to a vascular surgeon when a patient has a critical Vascular condition or as a referral from their Primary care Physician. Patient  might be referred to a vascular surgeon for pain in your legs, ulcer in the extremities and learn that you have peripheral arterial disease, for example, If you are in a high risk category: are a smoker, diabetic, or having high blood pressure with elevated cholesterol levels, you may be a candidate for a Consultation  with a Vascular Surgeon.

Also patients with Venous Disorders like primary varicose veins, recent deep vein thrombosis or with past history of deep vein thrombosis are candidates for consultation with the Vascular Surgeon
